Saying Goodbye to The Hills

The popular reality television show, The Hills, began filming their final episodes in January of 2010, and finished up the complete sixth season in May of 2010. The Hills first aired back in 2006. The MTV show has continued to entertain audiences around the US until 2010. The Hills created an astounding six complete seasons filled with drama and relationships between the lives of several teenagers. The show has been known to keep fans hanging on the edge of their seats, by creating tension between the main characters. Some viewers agree that the show is truly reality television, however some viewers disagree and say the director “twists and turns” things to create drama between the characters. The Hills casted several teen agers who all live in Los Angeles, California including Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, Spencer Pratt, and Brody Jenner. Lauren Conrad stared in the series until the fifth season when she decided to leave the show. In the beginning part of the fifth season Conrad's costar, Kristin Cavallari, took over the spotlight.
Through the years the season has seen its up and downs, but sadly the show is airing their last season (the sixth season) which premieres on April 27, 2010. The sixth season will air exactly twelve episodes but it has been said that if the final season does well, there is a possibility that The Hills may actually air an entire twenty-four episodes. The final episodes will show what the characters have been through together over the years. Fans will watch as not only friend ships have changed, but also the appearances of characters on the show, such as Heidi Montags several plastic surgeries. Fans witness drama as Spencer Pratt, and Heidi Montag try their best to make their new marriage work. A new character arrives as well. As Audriana finally gets over her feelings for a past lover, Justin, she reunites with an old friend, Ryan Cabrera. Ryan becomes a big role throughout the length of the sixth season. Neon Trees

The band Neon Trees, have been doing their best to get their name out there. There determined to make their names known across the US, by sharing their music and inspirational lyrics. The new band, plays their version of alternative rock music. They catch eyes, with their flashy sense of style and their edgy music. The band consists of four members, Tyler Glenn, Chris Allen, Branden Campbell, and Elaine Bradley. The band is originally from a small town in Utah, and started out as a garage band. Tyler and Chris where originally neighbors when they came up with the idea of actually creating a band and trying to make it. After Tyler and Chris meet, they decided to round up other individuals interested in the same type of music. They came together in 2005, but did not receive big attention until late into 2008. They recently toured with, Mr. Brightside, in hopes to getting their music out there. In 2009, they finally signed with Mercuy Records, and not soon after released their first album entitled "Habits" including their number one hit "Animal." Over the summer, Neon Trees plans to tour with 30 Seconds to Mars, a band they always looked up too. They have stated that their biggest influence is old 80's bands. They hope to bring that era of music back to popular music productions such as MTV. Neon Trees is a unique band, that has a lot of opportunities to make it big. They were recently featured on MTV as the P.U.S.H artist (Play Until Someone Hears). They even are being featured on popular I-phone applications, such as Tap-Tap Revenge. Gamers can play their single "Animal" right on their I-phones, a great accomplishment for the band. Neon Trees hopes for fans to spread their name through out the music world, by sharing their unique style of music. Neon Trees are beginning to schedule tour dates around the United States. An Inspirational Artist

Rick Ross, a talented artist, does not let anything get in his way of achieving his goals. His determination earned him the fame is associated with today. You may know him by, William Leonard Roberts II, whom attended high school in Florida, and later attended college at Albany State University. Ross seemed to be heading down a wrong path. He got caught up in a life of drugs and violence. He came from a rigid life style, and was not raised in the nicest area. He had previously made some poor decisions, that he admitted to not being proud of. However, he was not going to let his past stand in the way of his future. Ross exclaims to MTV NEWS, “You gotta understand, I feel like I overcame so many things. Not only in music, but in my everyday life — being a young black man, being an entrepreneur, being a father. I learned a lot of things. I'm turning right around, putting it back into music. It's still a lot of things I deal with. Still a lot of negativity. That's what it is, and that's why I feel the title of my next studio album is so appropriate.” Ross really wanted his fans to feel his determination and passion for music through his lyrics. A major goal of Ross’s is to incorporate some sort of meaningful message in each one of his songs. Readers learn that Ross has a lot of inspiration that fans were unaware of. He hopes he can persuades readers, and listeners, to follow their dreams no matter how far away they are from them. As for Ross’s dreams, he is on his way to accomplishment. His latest album “Telefon Don” is centered around his life style, and the way he changed his morals. Ross hopes to keep inspiring young people, in to a more positive direction, by sharing his hard ships through his music.

The New and Improved, Alice in Wonerland

The hottest movie out there is making quite a stir, Alice in Wonderland was released in the United States, on March 5, 2010 and since then this movie has not stopped surprising viewers with its new story plot. The popular fairy tale story has taken a turn. The director, Tim Burton, changed the original Alice in Wonderland, into something more suitable for our time period. The 2010 movie has more of a story line, where as the older version seemed to be confusing as Alice would just meet character after character, not making much of a connection to each other. The newer version seems to focus more on the importance of meeting the certain characters and how that character ties back in to Alice’s journey through Wonderland. Tim took his time in casting his movie, Alice is played by Mia Wasikowska, an Australian actress. He also casted Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover, Michael Sheen, Stephen Fry, and of course the famous Johnny Deep. In the original story Alice was only six years old, however in Burtons version Alice returns to Underland (which she mishears as Wonderland), as a nineteen year old teenager. Alice is told that she is the only one who can save Wonderland. A task is given to her of slaying an extremely dangerous dragon. Viewers follow Alice as she travels throughout "Wonderland" meeting interesting characters, as she tries and performs the task of slaying the dragon. This new version of Alice in Wonderland, is available in IMAX 3D, and Disney Digital 3D. Viewers have said the 3D versions really make you fall into the story. Alice in Wonderland is one of the few newer movies available in 3D, and it has been said that the characters really pop on the screen. The Boy Band Makes it's Return

The new boy band, The Maine, is finally starting to emerge into the music world. The band consists of five members, Pat Kirch, Ryan Osterman, Alex Ross, Garrett Nickelsen, and John O'Callaghan. However the band use to be larger. Two members, who originally took part in creating the music, decided the fame wasn’t for them. Ryan Osterman and Alex Ross, dropped out of the band right before The Maine, made their big appearance on the radio. The Maine, three years after forming in 2007, are beginning to appear on the internet, television, and even the popular music store, ITunes. Although it took awhile for this boy band to make it big, fans believe in their capability of succeeding. Originating from a small town in Arizona, this new alternative band has been nothing short of excellence. Their recognizable song "Into Your Arms" was such a hit, they produced a music video for the sound track in 2009. The Maine's newest album entitled "Cant Stop Wont Stop" was released back in July 2009, however since then this album has skyrocketed within the past months. "Cant Stop Wont Stop" features The Maines top twelve songs, this deluxe version of the album has really put the spotlight on this new alternative band. They originally signed with "Fearless Records", but since signing with "Warner Brother Records" their popularity in the music world has taken a turn for the better. The band even created a holiday record. The album “…And a Happy New Year” was released back in December of 2008. The album was not as successful as the band had hoped, but it did include three original songs of their own plus several additional popular holiday tunes. Their first big time appearance on stage was at The Bamboozle music festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey. They performed at the music festival in 2008, and picked up some fans that helped them spread their name across the US. The Maine is on the rise, and their stopping at nothing to reach their dreams. Young Talent

Justin Bieber, at the young age of 16, has become the new face on MTV. Bieber who is originally from Canada, started his career on the popular website, YouTube. He started his career by simply posting videos on the website of himself singing. He began uploading the videos just for fun, but they eventually lead him to fame and a lot of money. His manager originally had to ask for the permission from Bieber’s mother to fly him out to Hollywood to record demo tapes at the young age of 13. Justin started his career extremely young. Bieber never thought his home made videos would take him to where he is today. His profile on YouTube was such a hit that his manager, Scooter Braun, decided it was time for him, to leave Canada for awhile, and make an appearance in the states. It didn't take long for this young star to hit the spot light. As soon as he released his first album in 2009 , "My World", Justin became the teenage heart throb of not only America, but Canada as well. He is featured on "Canadas Top 15 Hits" as well as America's Billboard "Hot 100". The young boy has only had a year of fame, and has already risen to become an international star. Many fans know him in correlation to his hit song entitled, "One Time", but since then Bieber released another single, "Baby." This song will appear on the second part of his album which he calls "My World 2.0". In Bieber’s new album fans can listen as the Justin performs along with other famous artisits such as Usher. His new album is suppose have slightly fewer tracks, but will include a large variety of musical meanings underneath his lyrics. Justin Bieber has alot of ahead of him, accomplishing so much at such a young age is extremely rewarding. With the teenage population of America in love with him, there is no say to how much success Justin is going to have.

A New Artist on MTV's Top Charts

You probably have heard his name or his new hit song, "Whataya Want From Me", this new artist, Adam Lambert, has quickly became the new "It Man" in the music world. He grew up in San Diego California, and originally started his career by performing at Jewish events and parties. Later in his life, he decided to give theater a try. He was seen in the Jewish Musical, The Ten Commandments. He played his role as Joshua. After, The Ten Commandments, Lambert became more interested in musicals. He also appeared in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, as well as Fiddler on the Roof. At the young age of 19, Lambert left the states to tour with Anita Mann Productions and found that his voice could bring him a lot of success. He continued to follow his dreams by entering himself into the eighth season of American Idol. Unfortunately Lambert did not win the title, but was satisfied as runner up. After the shows appearance, RCA records offered the artist a deal, which he quickly took. He recently made his debut performance at the 2009 American Music Awards, singing his single "For Your Entertainment". The performance was a chance for Lambert to truly come out, and show fans what he was all about. Lambert is bringing something new to the music world, he is a true individual, and shows his creative, unique, tactics through his music. Unlike the other artists on MTV's charts, Adam is striving to make a change, not just fit it in with the others. His first album entitled "For Your Entertainment" proved different can in fact be good. Lambert has been said to be the next Michael Jackson of our time, he is quickly rising and many fans hope to see more of his work on the Billboard Charts next month. There's a New Judge in Town

As the next season of American Idol arrives, so does a friendly face. As fans sat down, on February 9, to watch the premiere of the newest season of American Idol, a different twist appeared on screen. American Idol is a television show that allows its participants to share with the world their own talent. The show was originally created by Simon Fuller. Fuller created the show off of the popular British show, Pop Idol. It wasn’t until 2002 when American Idol premiered on the Fox Network. Since 2002 when the show first came out, it has become one of the most popular shows on American television. Viewers are even capable of voting for their favorite artist on the show, through text messages. Recently, American Idol just signed a new judge to the show. The talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, made her first debut on the series. American Idol is a unique television program that allows inspiring singers and songwriters, to appear for their first time in front of several well known stars. The stars then judge them on their capability to perform, and narrow down the contestants, show by show, until there is only one standing. Degenerates is the shows newest Judge, and quite possibly the most sensitive as well. Ellen was seen giving constructive, yet polite criticism to the contestants, unlike her fellow Judge Simon Cowell. However some fans and critics of the famous show have questioned Ellen's appropriateness as a Judge. Ellen responded by saying "I'll tell you what I do know: I do know what it's like to stand on a stage and try to please an entire roomful of people. ... That is a hard thing to do." Some American Idol fans enjoy the presence of this new star on stage, and I must admit I am one of them. It’s extremely refreshing to see a new face judging these inspiring artists. Waving Hello to New Talent

As previously reported, Lady Gaga still remains on top of the billboard charts, with her fame glowing song, "Bad Romance". Gaga has had the opportunity to stick it out, as number one, for quite some time now, however listeners are beginning to hear a different genre of music, more towards the bottom of the billboard charts. An up and coming rapper, who calls himself "Drake", is starting to appear more and more on MTV. Before his appearance in the music world, Drake took his part in acting. He played a main role in the television series, “Degrassi: The Next Generation”. He then tried his talent singing, performing with the all time famous, Lil Wayne. The two came together to produce several of Lil Wayne’s top selling tracks. Not long after, Wayne’s producers decided to give Drake a shot of his own. In 2009 Drake signed with “Young Money Entertainment”. As we all watch the star rise into fame, we are slowly beginning to hear his music on our radios. Music lovers are beginning to see his name featured on some of MTV’s music charts. Drake is featured as, number four, on MTV’s top ring tone chart, with his well known song entitled “Forever”. He is definitely climbing the ladder to the top of the rap industry, however Drake has to yet to appear on any of the top Billboard charts. His talent is noticeable, and with his fans support, many feel Drake has the capability to be the next “Lil Wayne”. So what is next for this new artist? He is currently said to be working on his new album, which has not yet had a release date. Tuesday January 26th, will GaGa Show?

The famous, Lady GaGa, is currently touring on her Monster Ball campaign. GaGa, has held out, as number one, in the charts for several weeks now, with her hit, "Bad Romance". Not only has the artist been featured weekly on MTV, but her songs have been heard on the radio month after month. The artist plans to travel the globe, entertaining her fans with her latest album in-titled, "The Fame Monster". More information concerning concert dates and places, can be viewed here. As most Purdue students and faculty already well know, a concert was surprisingly suddenly cancelled, that was planned to be held right here on our very own campus, inside Elliot Hall of Music. As students of Purdue University, and other individuals from around the area, packed into the Hall, eagerly waiting for the arrival of Lady GaGa, a very unexpected announcement was made. Claims have been made, stating that the artist had passed out, earlier before the show had begun. Reasonings for the cancelation of the performance varied between Lady GaGa's illness and, technical difficulties with stage equipment. The show was rescheduled for tonight, Tuesday January 26th. Some fans believe she will yet again be absent at her show. I would have to agree. The concert was cancelled in a very abnormal matter, and with out any fore warnings. Some feel that GaGa has to much fame, to perform in a small town like, West Lafayette. So what will happen tonight in Elliot Hall of Music, will the the unpredictable Lady GaGa step foot on our very own stage?

MTV Blog Idea

Through out my twelve blogs, I will shortly begin to produce, I am hoping to research music. In particular I will focus on the popular television station MTV, also known as Music Television Station. MTV, is viewed through out the country, and has fans of all different age groups. A large portion of MTV's viewers, consists of college students, so I thought maintaining blogs concerning this channel would be beneficial to my peers, as well as other students on different college campuses. I will also be writing about television shows that are shown on MTV. I will also research the characters and their backgrounds that are on MTV’s shows. I also will advertise new rising artists, including a small background profile of the individuals. I will blog about the producers whom make the music, and guide the artists, we all love, into the spot light. I will research breaking news, consisting of individuals in the music world. I will keep up with MTV's top music charts, and review the artist whom is featured as number one on that particular week. I will then go further into the charts, and research the artists, albums and songs that are featured, and expand on that certain genre of music. I hope to produce interesting and useful blogs weekly, so that music fans of the popular television station, MTV, can gain more knowledge and facts about the music they are listening to.
